OUT ON THE SCREEN

This celluloid extravaganza is being organised by Manchester-based
Kaffequeeria, a collective which puts on non-commercial not-for-profit
events for queers, including regular cafés, women’s cafés and occasional
evening entertainment. As with all other Kaffequeeria events, the film
festival encourages participation and a do-it-yourself attitude. So as
well as lolling about in front of a big queer screen, stuffing your face
with popcorn, you will also have the chance to take part in discussions on
queer film, workshops, and question-answer sessions with the filmmakers,
so that you can go away and make a film of your own.
A selection of films will be up against each other in our Viewers’ Vote,
where festival-goers can help decide which of our queer favourites we will
be screening. Snacks and food will be available throughout the weekend.
The festival starts with a celebratory opening night on Friday 14th July
from 7pm and will run until Sunday 16th. Entry is free to all events.
Kaffequeeria Film Festival will take place at the Basement Social Centre,
24 Lever Street, Manchester (the venue is below ground with limited
access, please get in touch with any access queries).
Kaffequeeria Film Festival runs from 14th to 16th July 2006.
