The distinct anarchist flags fluttered amongst the T&G and AMICUS union placards and banners on the demonstration which is part of a campaign to oppose the closure of Coventry's Ryton's Car Plant.

The plant closure and sacrifice of the worker's jobs clearly is nothing more than an appeasement to the company's shareholders who's constant whine for an increase in profits at all costs, will see these jobs exported to the lower waged Eastern Europe market.

This despite profits in excess of one billion euros and record sales of approx four million vehicles in 2005 by the PSA group.

The fact that local MP's like Ainsworth, Robinson, Cunningham, Plasket, and Wright have backed the campaign begs the question why Minister of State, Mike O'Brien, sits in his office twiddling his thumbs, bladdering out the Laisez faire mantra.

The Ryton workers are supported by the French Peugeot workers, and plans of joint action and Euro-wide stoppages are under consideration by the workers.
