Avian influenza has existed in nature for a million years as an innocuous intestinal water- borne virus of wild ducks. It doesn’t hurt the ducks and the ducks don’t hurt the virus. Human influenza started just a few thousand years ago particularly with the domestication of poultry—wild ducks in China.
The reservoir of avian influenza is in domesticated waterfowl. China produces 90 percent of the goose meat and two-thirds of the duck meat in the world, and that is [why] all of the last four pandemics probably originated from southern China. That’s where this fecal soup of virus is.
Once this harmless duck virus gets into a broiler shed, all of a sudden the virus is faced with a problem. It is used to being an intestinal virus, spread through pond water. But now the virus can no longer transmit through the pond, and has to find another way to travel. This virus being RNA-based—as opposed to DNA-based—has a very sloppy replicating mechanism and mutates at a high rate. It stops being an intestinal virus and starts spreading throughout the entire bodies of these land-based fowl, eventually finding the lungs, and continues to mutate until it’s a virus capable of airborne transmission. That means it has to be resistant to dehydration, it has to start killing cells of the respiratory tract to trigger coughing so it can spread from one chicken to another. Once you have an airborne virus in one of these broiler sheds, all of a sudden you have tens of thousands of hosts for this virus to continue to mutate and get better at killing these animals.

Vitamin E Immune booster. Also decreases the production of the cytokine TNF-a. (Pubmed PMID 155882360, 10929076) Experiments involved using mice. Very suitable for immune compromised people, especially the elderly. Effects enhanced when taken with Vitamin C.
Apple Juice - Antiviral. Fresh apple juice including the pulp and skin has greater antiviral activity than heated commercial apple juice. More research is needed. Effectiveness on H5N1 is unknown (Pubmed PMID 32832, 12452634)
Resveratrol - Antiviral. In addition to inhibiting neuraminidase, Resveratrol also sends a message to cells to stop manufacturing viruses. This is a proven antiviral found naturally in red wine, peanuts, mulberries, Japanese Knotwood root (richest source), raisins and red grapes.
Resveratrol supplements are relatively inexpensive, are more stable than wine and is available in liquid form for absorption in the mouth. No toxic effects noted. (Pubmed PMID 1583880, 12817628, 15985724)
Scuttellaria (Skullcap)- Antiviral. A herb used as a tea. It has no side effects and is also a mild tranquilliser. Research suggests neuraminidase, which is a substance needed by the H5N1 Bird Flu virus to reproduce, may be inhibited..
Cranberry Juice - Early research shows that it may be an antiviral, making viruses less able to invade or multiply. Effectiveness on H5N1 is unknown (Pubmed PMID15781126)
Cat’s Claw (Uncaria tomentosa)- Decreases the production of the cytokine TNF-a. Also boosts immune system. The number of white blood cells was significantly increased during treatment. No toxicity was noted. ( 844)

Having a good immune system alone will not protect you. Again, as with the 1918-1919 pandemic, H5N1 seems to claim almost half its victims by using their own immune systems against them through a condition called acute respiratory distress syndrome in which the victims own immune system unleashes a cytokine storm that literally chews up their lung tissue, ultimately causing the victim to suffocate.

How to clean and disinfect:
Influenza viruses are killed by most detergents and disinfectants. Just be aware of the fact organic material has a negative effect on the efficacy of a disinfectant: viruses which are covered with manure are well protected and can survive up to approx. 100 days. Complete removal of organic material is therefore an essential part of an effective disinfection procedure. Causes of Acidity:

The ideal range is between 7.35 and 7.45 with most of us falling in the acid range of 6.2 to 6.4. Why are we a full point or more below the ideal alkaline range? Another serious consequence of over-acidity(meaning a pH below 7.0) is the replacement of oxygen with sugar fermentation in the respiratory chemistry of normal cells, causing them to become damaged. A German biochemist, Dr. Otto Warburg, discovered the cause of cancer in 1923, winning him the Nobel Prize. In his book, The Metabolism of Tumors, Dr. Warburg demonstrated that the primary cause of this relationship is the replacement of oxygen in the respiratory chemistry of normal cells by the fermentation of sugar. 2pH Systems:
There are 2 pH systems in the body and both are equally critical and independent. The first is the pH acid/alkaline balance of the blood, which should be maintained at +/7.4. The second is the pH balance of the stomach, which should be maintained at 2 to 4 pH or very acid. All foods are “burned” or digested in the body and leave behind an ash that can be neutral, acid or alkaline depending on the mineral composition of the food. Our body produces organic acids of fermentation when stomach acids are low, causing undigested food to rot in the stomach, which of course causes symptoms of indigestion. Antacids help deplete an already low stomach acid. The deception is temporary relief, but the poor customers never understand cause and effect. Proper stomach acid of 2 to 4 must be maintained to properly digest and assimilate food. Stomach hydrochloric acid goes down with age so supplementation is called for.
Benefits of Alkaline/Acid Balance:
Aging is slowed when acid waste is removed from the body. An acid environment has to be changed as healthy cells are alkaline and unhealthy cells are acidic. Some doctors say that Acid Food Theory is rubbish?
Your stomach is so acidic that no food can change its acidity. Citrus fruits, vinegar, and vitamins such as ascorbic acid or folic acid do not change the acidity of your stomach or your bloodstream. An entire bottle of antacids will not change the acidity of your stomach for more than a few minutes.
Your pancreas produces strong antacids that neutralize stomach acids after they leave your stomach. Your bloodstream and organs control acidity in a very narrow range. Anything that changes acidity in your body will make you very sick and can even kill you. Certain foods can leave end products called ash that can make your urine acid or alkaline, but urine is the only body fluid that food can change its acidity. You cannot change the acidity of the rest of your body without harming yourself.
Cranberries have been shown to help prevent recurrent urinary tract infections, but not by changing acidity. They contain chemicals that block adhesins and prevent bacteria from sticking to urinary tract cells.
When you take in more protein than your body needs, your body cannot store it. The excess amino acids are converted to organic acids that would acidify you blood. But this is immediately corrected by drawing calcium from your bones. That's why many scientists feel that taking in too much protein weakens bones and can cause osteoporosis.
ALKALINE-ASH FOODS include fresh fruit and raw vegetables. ACID-ASH FOODS include ALL ANIMAL PRODUCTS, whole grains, beans and other seeds. But the whole concept of acidity is nonsense and has no effect whatever on your body.

Transcendental Meditation (TM).
Trancendental Meditation is a non-dietary way to increase the alkalinity of your body,it gives a level of rest twice as deep as that of sleep and is an effective antidote to stress. Stress is insidious because it affects us 24 hours each day. Stress causes the heart to beat too fast, the muscles to be too tense, the entire metabolism to be too fast.
Metabolic waste products are acids (lactic acid, uric acid, etc.), which is one reason why dissolving stress increases the alkalinity of the body. The effectiveness of TM is evidenced by a 53% reduction in overall health care costs and a 55% reduction in cancer. (Psychosomatic Medicine 49 (1987): 493-507, American Journal of Managed Care Volume 3, Number 1, (1997): 135-144)

Body Chemistry

We live and die on a cellular level. If our cells are healthy then we are healthy and if our cells are not healthy, if they live in a toxic environment, then we are not healthy. The human body contains about ten gallons of fluid so its cells are swimming in an ocean that is either acid, neutral or alkaline. The body’s systems work best in an environment that is neutral to slightly alkaline although some vital organs, like the stomach, either produce or house very acidic substances.

The pH, or “potential of Hydrogen” is a logarithmic scale that measures the relative acidity or alkalinity of a solution. Solutions are measured from 0 (totally acid) to 14 (totally alkaline) and 7 is neutral. The intracellular fluid should have a pH of about 6.8. If the pH is too low (more acidic) then enzymes can’t work and other cellular-level process that are life and health sustaining can’t take place.

Although the cells live in an almost pH neutral environment, they produce acid as they convert food into energy and then perform work. The weak acid that they produce is easily eliminated by the respiratory system. This is the first, and natural source of acid in our bodies. Although we don’t eat a lot of acid food most of the food in the “typical” American diet produces acid ash. Ash is the residue that is left after the body has used what it can of the food that we ingest. Acid ash in solution is a much stronger acid than that produced by the cells and it must be eliminate by the kidneys.

The strong acid produced by the “typical” American diet is so strong that it would burn the urinary tract upon elimination. Consequently the body buffers the acid. Alkaline minerals (calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium) are added to the strong (pH 5.5) acid when a person’s alkaline mineral reserve is full. This converts the strong acid into a very weak acid that is excreted as urine. On the other hand, if a person’s alkaline mineral reserves are depleted then the body is forced to buffer the strong acid with ammonia (a strong alkaline, pH 9.25). This results in the secretion of alkaline urine (pH of about 8.0).

Urine pH is a measure of the environmental conditions in which the cells live. It also shows how the body responded to the food that was ingested within the last 24 hours. This in turn is a good measure of how well the body is functioning. As a general rule, if urine has a pH of about 5.5 in the morning after eating meats, eggs, bread, milk, cheese and cereal the day before then alkaline mineral reserves are adequate and body acid-alkaline balance is healthy.

High Body Acidity

High acidity is the most common acid-alkaline balance problem. When the body’s mineral reserves are depleted the body “borrows” minerals from what ever source it can. This usually means that minerals are borrowed from bones and vital organs. Over time this weakens the organs and muscles. Some of the common health problems that result from high acidity include:

· Acceleration of free radical damage,
· Bladder and kidney problems,
· Cardiovascular weakness,
· Immune system weakness,
· Lactic acid buildup in joints resulting in joint pain,
· Low energy,
· Osteoporosis, eventually resulting in brittle bones and hip fractures, and
· Weight gain.

Diet is the primary cause of acid-alkaline imbalance in the body. The tables below classify common foods as either alkaline ash producing (Table A) or acid ash producing (Table B). Foods identified with an asterisks are either very alkaline ash producing or very acid ash producing. Very acid-ash producing foods should be avoided. On the other hand, very alkaline-ash producing foods can be used to help counteract an acid imbalance. In addition, it is important to note that a food may be acidic, like a lemon, but be alkaline ash producing so don‘t always go by taste.

Eighty percent of a persons diet should be alkaline foods and the balance (20%) acid ash producing for a perfect pH balance.

There are a few other things, in addition to diet, that can be done to help correct an over acidic balance. These include taking enzyme supplements, organic calcium and magnesium supplements, colloidal minerals, vitamin A and D, and drinking alkaline vegetable juices (carrot, celery and beet) and lemon/maple syrup drink.

Most adults don’t produce enough digestive enzymes and so partially digested food enters the intestines or sits in the stomach and becomes more acidic. Enzyme supplementation helps treat this problem. Mineral supplements are important to build up the potentially depleted mineral reserve of the body. In addition, most vitamins can’t be used effectively if the necessary minerals are not present. Vitamins A and D help hold calcium in the body and reduce the risk of calcium depletion. Alkaline drinks help change the pH balance of body fluids. Finally, if you are taking ascorbic acid to get your vitamin C allowance then switch to either Rose Hips or Citrus Bioflavonoids, neither of which is acidic.
Our bodies are constantly rebuilding themselves. You really are not the same person that you were last year. The body replaces the lining of the stomach about every five days, the skin in about a month, the skeleton about every three months, the liver about every six weeks and the red blood cells circulate for about 120 days before being replaced by new cells. What you do today affects the body that you will have tomorrow. That can be good or bad . . . it all depends on what you do. The new body that you are building today is affected by the food that you eat, the waste that you eliminate (and as important, by the waste that you don't eliminate), by the air that you breath, the liquids that you drink, and by the stress that you feel and how you respond to it. Everything that you do affects the new body that you are building for yourself. A long-term acid ash producing diet creates a toxic environment at the cellular level. If the cells can’t function, the body ceases to function. On the other hand, a healthy diet creates an environment that is conducive to cellular and total health.

Make your own "litmus paper"
Chop the red cabbage up with a sharp knife.
Crush it with a "pestle and mortar" OR put it in a food mixer and grind it.
Add a very small amount of water.
Decant the blue liquid (pour the liquid into a clean glass).
Soak some blotting paper in the blue liquid.
Let the blotting paper dry out.
Cut the blue papers into small squares.
If you add a little bit of vinegar instead of the water, you will end up with red litmus.
Now you can go around the house testing things to see if they are acids or alkalis. Is that soap really kind to your skin (pH 5) ?????
If you put a piece of blue litmus paper into an acid it will turn red.
If you put a piece of red litmus paper into an alkali it will turn blue.
Indicators change colour at different pH values. Litmus changes at pH 7 but Phenolphthalein changes from pink to colourless at pH 9.

Even if you have a completely vegan household, and you go out and get your organic fruits and vegetables, what were those organic fruits and vegetables fertilized with? They were fertilized with manure or blood meal and that carries the potential for food-borne illness, or from fecal contamination anywhere along the supply chain. So we all need to wash our fruits and vegetables, under running water, scrub them clean, even if they look fine or they are organic.

Avian influenza has existed in nature for a million years as an innocuous intestinal water- borne virus of wild ducks. It doesn’t hurt the ducks and the ducks don’t hurt the virus. Human influenza started just a few thousand years ago particularly with the domestication of poultry—wild ducks in China.
The reservoir of avian influenza is in domesticated waterfowl. China produces 90 percent of the goose meat and two-thirds of the duck meat in the world, and that is [why] all of the last four pandemics probably originated from southern China. That’s where this fecal soup of virus is.
Once this harmless duck virus gets into a broiler shed, all of a sudden the virus is faced with a problem. It is used to being an intestinal virus, spread through pond water. But now the virus can no longer transmit through the pond, and has to find another way to travel. This virus being RNA-based—as opposed to DNA-based—has a very sloppy replicating mechanism and mutates at a high rate. It stops being an intestinal virus and starts spreading throughout the entire bodies of these land-based fowl, eventually finding the lungs, and continues to mutate until it’s a virus capable of airborne transmission. That means it has to be resistant to dehydration, it has to start killing cells of the respiratory tract to trigger coughing so it can spread from one chicken to another. Once you have an airborne virus in one of these broiler sheds, all of a sudden you have tens of thousands of hosts for this virus to continue to mutate and get better at killing these animals.
