Discussion, debate and slideshow.
Public Meeting and Slide Show
On Thursday 30th March at 7.30pm, Lancaster and District Coalition Against War are holding a public meeting and slideshow at the Friend's Meeting House, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, to address people's growing concern that we may be heading towards an armed conflict with Iran. We have invited Iranian film maker and campaigner Roya Kashefi to address the event. She will be bringing lots of photos and stories of ordinary people living in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Roya's films on contemporary politics in Iran have been nominated for international awards. She has frequently commented on Iranian issues on international radio and television.
Much of Roya's work focuses on supporting Iranian refugees and asylum-seekers in the UK. Since 2000 she has provided the English, EU and Canadian Immigration and Appeals Courts and Tribunals with expert reports on the situation in Iran and the abuses of the Islamic Republic.
She is a key member of the Paris-based Association of Iranian Researchers who have recently met with representatives of the UK and US governments to try to avert a military attack on Iran.
Roya will present her opinion of the UKs current political response to threats of nuclear proliferation, and invite discussion of what we can do in response.
