Update: Ali has been temporarily released pending judicial review of his case. Read article.
Ali was being held in Campshill House detention centre in Oxford. He now has his medication. He has been released and soon the battle starts to sort out his case and find enough evidence to keep him in Britain.
Around 30 people protested the illegal deportation of 20-year-old Afghani refugee Ali Noori at Nottingham Magistrates Court on the morning of March 2. He has been told about the demo and could not believe it at first, but wants to send his thanks and gratitude to everyone who came out on such a cold day.

Anti deportation notts
Ali came to Britain as a minor, and has been awaiting the result of his appeal to remain here. He was detained at the police station on March 1 with no prior warning to him or his solicitor.
It is expected Ali will be moved to the detention centre near Oxford shortly, before being deported. Legal representations are being made, however. The protest saw a good turnout on such short notice. People gathered in front of the court buidlings (Bridewell police station) to oppose the illegal deportation. Ali suffers from severe asthma and has only been given a small dose of the medicine he requires. We await further information about Ali's situation. Whilst at the protest we - particularly those wanting to photograph - came under a fair amount of hassle, in trying to take them. You might notice on the regional and national news, when court cases are part of the story, there are many shots involving the comings and going outside courts. When I try photograph a bunch of protesters on an issue there, it appears I break a number of regulations. I did not photograph any others attending court, just the consenting adults attending the protest. Me thinks it yet another 'device' to minimise our abilities to infom the public about such issues. I guess I might hear more about it!
