Invitation to Peace Conference

Nottingham Student Peace Movement would like to invite all campaigners and activists to this year's Peace Conference on Sun 26th Feb, at the University of Nottingham, for a day of discussion and networking aimed at discussing local campaigns and actions. Whilst we are inviting speakers to share their experiences with attendants, the focus of the day will be on group discussion and formulating practical ideas.
Students have organised three main sessions as follows:-
2pm: The "War on Terror" Comes Home
Confirmed speakers: Milan Rai (Justice Not Vengeance), Alan Simpson (MP for Nottingham South, Labour Against the War)
Followed by discussion on: How can we really stop terrorism? and How can we protect our freedoms from anti-terror measures?
4.30pm: Overcoming Media Bias
Confirmed speakers: Richard Keeble (Professor of Journalism, associate of Media Lens), Nottinghamshire Indymedia (local independent media)
Followed by discussion on: How can we expose and correct media bias? and How can we develop our own media?
7.30pm: International Development, organised by Nottingham People & Planet

There will also be an open area for stalls publicising local campaigning and activist groups, and food will be provided by Veggies. We also have a number of rooms booked on the day for any groups who would like to organise their own workshops and discussions. Please get in touch if you'd like a stall or a room.
The conference will take place on C-floor of the Portland Building at the University of Nottingham. It's free of charge and all are welcome!
