Walking Catatonically into Armageddon

A vision of hundreds of millions of people walking blindly, uncaringly, unconsciously into Armageddon…
Not because that is their intention; but because they are too terrified, or too lazy, or too busy with ‘more important things’ even to question, much less consider an alternative to what they have always been told is the ‘Gospel Truth’ by the media, the politicians and the theologians.
For the media—-not only the mainstream media; but, also, the variety of purportedly ‘alternative’ news and political websites on the Internet—-the fundamental rule is “Thou shalt not question the theological motivations of the politicians; or consider theology to be, in any way, relevant to the political-military decision-making process.” It makes no difference that ‘following the rule’ may very well threaten the very survival of human civilization. That rule must be followed to the end.
For the politicians, on the other hand, absolutely every problem can be resolved by the use of one of four hammers: the small hammer of diplomacy; the medium hammer of terrorist violence; the large hammer of conventional military force; or the very large hammer of nuclear weapons. And, of course, anything that cannot be fixed by one of these four hammers is, obviously, not a problem.
And, finally, the theologians attempt to resolve all problems by the use of a huge hammer and the simplest of fundamental rules: “God is on our side; and anyone who even so much as questions, much less provides an alternative to what we say is ‘in league with Satan’; and, thus, should be ‘pacified’ by the medium hammer, the large hammer or the very large hammer of the politicians.”
The immediate problem for human civilization is that the theological conflict between Judaeo-Christian civilization and Islamic civilization can be fixed only by the use of a pair of tweezers to remove the ‘splinter in your mind’ referred to by Morpheus in “The Matrix”.
And that pair of tweezers is a detailed theological analysis.
So the "dragon" media keeps insisting on ‘following the rules’; the "beast of the sea" politicians keep hammering away at a problem that can be fixed only by a pair of tweezers—-and the more frustrated they get, the bigger a hammer they use; while the "beast of the earth" theologians keep insisting, in support of the "beast of the sea" politicians, that people who use tweezers are ‘in league with Satan’.
All walking catatonically into Armageddon.
