URN, Student Radio for Nottingham are proud to present: -
40 hours, no breaks, ONE DJ – The 40 hour challenge
Steve Doran (19), a second year politics student and Deputy Mayoress of Dartford (amongst other things) is extending her usual URN show to cover the entire weekend of Children in Need in a rather novel fundraising drive.
It all kicks off at 8pm on Friday November 18th with her usual DJing partner Dave T, and will continue for the 40 hours thereafter, finishing at 12 Noon on Sunday 20th. This marathon event will encompass the best specialist shows URN has to offer and will feature some of the best DJs on student radio. However, Steve will still be the main voice for the full 2400 minutes.
Below is the timetable of the day, although you should be prepared to expect some surprises throughout the event.

Throughout the show there will also be highlights from various events going on throughout the area (and maybe some from further a field), interviews with representatives who have benefited through CIN funds along with the usual shout outs, vox pops and requests.
Steve says "We are aiming very much for listeners to interact with the show and would encourage feedback and even visits to the studios (especially if you are baring gifts of take always and chocolate). I need to know that I am not alone in the world, otherwise by hour 35 I may have lost my marbles."
Money will be collected via personal sponsorship as well as the bucket brigade that will be seen around campus and town, in shops, pubs, clubs and hall dining rooms. Anyone wishing to donate can pop into the URN studios or find one of the various people collecting.
URN broadcasts world-wide on www.urn1350.net, on 1350AM on the University Campus and surrounding areas and 1602AM at Sutton Bonnington. It has just achieved a record 9 nominations at the Student Radio Awards.
