1.) Declaration on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, 15.9.05
On 14 and 15 September 2005, civil society organisations from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Europe met in Tbilisi, to plan the next phase of their scrutiny of BP’s Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. As the pipeline is soon to begin pumping oil, its environmental and social impacts are set to worsen. The campaign plans to intensify its efforts to defend local people’s human rights and the environment, and to hold BP and the project’s financial backers to account.

4.) BP Russia campaign - BP London demo 13.10.05
The battle against TNK-BP and their lack of concern and action to preserve the environment came to the streets of London today (13 Oct). Around 20 activists gathered outside the city of London BP offices and were addressed by Simon Zhavoronkov who led chants of "BP out of Russia, Clean up Siberia" and "Freedman* out of Russia" and "BP Blair, Hands off Russian Oil!".Details:

On 20 October at 11.30am, members of USO, the Colombian Oil Workers’ Union started a hunger strike in protest at attempts by the government to sell the state owned oil refinery in Cartagena.

10.) Anti-road camp set up in Southend, Essex
Parklife is a single issue residents campaign group formed in June 2001,
to protect Priory Park, Southend on Sea, Essex. It opposes any current or future road schemes, which would have a detrimental impact upon the park and its immediate surroundings.

11.) Shell to Sea round-up
On 30.9.05, a protest comprising sand dump and banner drop with megaphone and samba band went without hitch at the Shell Centre in London, highlighting the Shell development in Rossport, County Mayo in the north west of Ireland. It was carried out by an unnamed group of concerned citizens, some of whom are part of London Rising Tide.

2000 protest in Dublin against Shell’s plans in County Mayo, October 2nd:
Around 2,000 people attended the march including Dr. Owens Wiwa, brother of Ken Saro-Wiwa, who was also at the High Court when the Rossport 5 were released the day before and who spoke at the march.

19.) Film competition ties in with Montreal climate negotiations
‘Caméra verte/Green Camera is open to professional and amateur filmmakers who are asked to submit films between 30 seconds and 5 minutes in length that deal with the theme, "Climate change: problems and solutions". Films must be submitted before November 14th 2005. Camera verte/Green Camera will conclude with a mini film on November 26th 2005, in Montreal.’
