Dealing with natural disasters
Mike Brady | 21.10.2005 13:37 | Analysis | Social Struggles | Cambridge
Should responding to natural disasters be left to the whim of politicians and the media deciding what should be made a priority?
Why are some disasters forgotten, but others inundated with donations?
Why and how are aid contributions being used as a political tool?
Should countries be held to their commitment to provide 0.7% of GDP to development and a fund set up which can be used to respond to natural disasters when the need arises?
We can send money ourselves, but is there something more we can do?

The Simultaneous Policy is a package of measures being developed by people around the world to address global problems. Effective responses to natural disasters could be included. See http://www.simpol.org.uk/
