The latest Shortwave Report (September 30) is up at the website
in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:36)
This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio Netherlands, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From CHINA- China is insisting that the US not sell weapons to Taiwan- Taiwan authorities have proposed a 10 Billion dollar arms purchase from the US. Iran says it will return to enriching uranium and block IAEA inspections if the referral to the UN Security Council for sanctions moves forward. The family of the Brazilian man murdered by police in a London subway do not believe that the TV cameras showing the execution were not working during the incident, and are calling for arrests of the shooter and the police chief. Israel is continuing its missile offensive against Palestinian militants in Gaza City.
From NETHERLANDS-Hamas, a Palestinian resistance group, says it will renounce all violence against Israel and will commit to a ceasefire. Australia's former Prime Minister has suggested that the world's nuclear waste should be stored in his country, raising extreme controversy and anger among the citizens. Condi Rice visited Haiti to show support for upcoming elections- however the prospects for a free and fair election are bleak.
From CUBA- First a review of the situation in Guantanamo Prison, where suspects have been held for 3 years without being charged. Then a commentary on the movement in the US to imbed religion into political and governmental decisions, something many thought was banned by the Constitution.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm (PST) on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better- Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this program on Friday at 9:00am (PST)
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)-
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- (13.3MB)
