On 4th August the United Network of Detained Zimbabweans (UNDZ) and its supporters had a victory at the High Court when deportations of Zimbabwean asylum seekers were halted temporarily until the end of September. The UNDZ needs your support to continue its vital work on behalf of Zimbabweans refugees in the UK.
On 4th August the United Network of Detained Zimbabweans and supporters from the Refugee Council, the trade unions and other networks demonstrated outside the High Court to win some sort of reprieve for Zimbabwean refugees threatened with deportation.
During the hearing of the test cases Justice Collins agreed that deportations should be halted temporarily until the end of September, when the cases are send back to the Immigration Appeals Tribunal. Refugees currently held in detention are now allowed to appeal for bail.
The campaign succeeded in generating some publicity in the national news, and showed how strong refugees can be when people campaign together as a community.
