During the hearing of the test cases Justice Collins agreed that deportations should be halted temporarily until the end of September, when the cases are send back to the Immigration Appeals Tribunal. Refugees currently held in detention are now allowed to appeal for bail.
The campaign succeeded in generating some publicity in the national news, and showed how strong refugees can be when people campaign together as a community.
If you want to support the vital work of the United Network for Detained Zimbabweans, please take the model motion to your trade union branch, local anti-war group and get friends and colleagues to support the UNDZ.
