Euromayday Arrests Update

Two people who were arrested during the Euromayday Hackney Tesco precarity action and charged under section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 ("Threatening words and behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress") had their cases thrown out of Highbury Magistrates Court today as the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence against either defendant.
One person appeared in court in the morning and the prosecution lawyer made several vain attempts to explain why he was not able to produce the relevant court documents concerning the case. The judge proceeded to dismiss the case as no evidence was presented.
The second person who appeared in the afternoon had a more trouble-free affair as the prosecution immediately offered no evidence concerning his case. The judge again dismissed the case.
Neither case did the arresting officers or police witnesses bother to turn up in court.
There are still several ongoing court cases concerning arrests on Mayday. Any witnesses, photographic or film evidence of any of the arrests please contact
