Public Meeting. Saturday 27th August, 4pm-8pm, Labour Hall, Lyndhurst
Road, Worthing. With guest speakers and food.
Dear friends,
We feel it's vital for the peace movement to respond to the horrific
bombings in London by strengthening the anti-war message.
It is clear that British involvement in the war in Iraq made
Britain a target and we should strengthen the campaign to end the
occupation of Iraq.
It's also extremely important to stop the backlash against Muslims and
general rise in racism caused by the London bombings -
the mosque in Worthing has already had a brick thrown through a window
shortly after 7/7, which followed the serious arson
attack that took place there even before the bombings.
Now more than ever we need to stand together as one community, one
humanity, against the cycle of bitterness, despair and
violence that has brought so much destruction in the Middle East and
which has now found its way to this country with the
slaughter of over 50 innocent people and possibly more to come. Now is
the time to speak out against the cycle of war and
despair Bush and Blair have led us into.
We'd like to invite your group to join us in a the broadest possible
public show of unity. We would like these events
to represent all faiths, all colours, and all peaceful and progressive
campaigns in our town. Please get in touch if
you can help or would like to be involved in any way.
