G8 whithout any news from ten french activits arrested monday

Paris, 06/07/2005 Sunday July 04, the police forces made a massive descent in Edinburgh where were converging thousands of anti-G8 militants. 120 militants were arrested arbitrarily.Among them, members of the European sambas network taking part in the pink block, festif and nonviolent.
Whereas the majority were released on July 05 at midday, we are without any news of ten french militants of which Julie Chansel from Vamos sambactivist!, the only one we could obtain the name, and we don’t know where they are. Julie was seen rising in a police van with another french woman. A lawyer has been officially appointed and the legal team organized by social movement organizations doesn’t have either official news. Slackened militants who were with them affirm that they would have been condemned to seven days of firm prison. We do not know the situation of other eight french people nor the reasons for this expeditious judgement, in opposite to all the most elementary rights of the people arested by the police.
We fear that this judgement was given under cover of the legal devices of exception set up for this G8 summit. We require the immediate release of Julie, as well as other militants held under the same conditions.
We call with a solidarity meeting with these militants this evening July 6, 8pm, in front of the Embassy from Great Britain in Paris, 35 rue du Faubourg St Honoré.
