Make the rich pay to end poverty
CR | 13.06.2005 11:20 | G8 2005 | London
Meet outside Camden tube (Northern Line)
While billions across the globe live in poverty banks and corporations are making billions in profits. Third world nations owe £2,566 billion in debt to rich western governments, banks and finance institutions. They can’t pay the money back so just service huge interest payments. It all adds up to a system of global poverty. In Camden on the 25 June we will be protesting against the high street banks and asking them to give up their profits to end global poverty. Called as part of REVOLUTION’s Dump the Debt campaign against third world debt.
LAST YEAR’S PROFITS FOR THE BANKS
HSBC: $17.6 billion
Lloyds TSB: $6.65 billion
Barclays: $8.6 billion
