GEORGE GALLOWAY IN LUTON CIVIL LIBERTIES MEETING
PETER WAKEHAM | 24.01.2005 16:15
Controversial Respect MP George Galloway who is coming to Luton on 30th January compared the anti-terrorist tactics used against the Muslim community today to the way the Irish community were criminalized in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The methods in the 1970’s were designed to curb support for the Nationalists but:
“The result (of these tactics) had the very opposite effect of curbing support”, he said on 12 December 2004 as a speaker at the Elcast Conference.
GEORGE GALLOWAY HEADS LUTON CIVIL LIBERTIES MEETING
With civil liberties in the UK under unprecedented attack, Luton Respect has invited Mr Galloway to put the case for better civil liberties and to explain why we think the War on Terror is eroding the very rights the government says it wants to protect.
Mr Galloway heads a public meeting, called RESPECT OUR CIVIL LIBERTIES on Sunday 30th January 2.30pm in the Windsor Suite of the Thistle Hotel, Arndale Centre, Luton. Mobeen Qureshi Respect prospective parliamentary candidate for Luton South, Ashfaq Ahmed (father of Babar Ahmed, who was brutally arrested by anti-terrorist police, sustaining 40 injuries, later released and then re-arrested) and Raza Kazim, Luton representative of Islamic Human Rights Commission, will join him on the platform.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
