Lancaster Environment Centre, part of the university, had a director who was also director of Bridge Across the Bay Company. He has now resigned from BABC following the action in which the all the offices of the centre were leafletted and an uninvited meeting held in his office with him.
The same day, people also visited another BABC director, this time in Manchester, in his Renewables NorthWest office. Work was stopped in both towns, with no arrests. He has also now resigned following the action.
Morecambe Bay is the most protected wildlife site in the UK - the proposed bridge would trash it. They plan to justify it with a heavy dose of greenwash. It would go from Heysham to Barrow, and is not viable without a bypass which does not currently have permission.
This was one of a new series of actions called Doin' it Up North, which a few years ago were kick-ass openly advertised actions.
This coming weekend sees the anti-Roads & Airports gathering taking place in Nottingham - get down there. More info at http://www.roadalert.org.uk/
