The Wall Action in Oxford on Saturday made a big impact on passers-by. A "human wall" was formed down the middle of Cornmarket of between 30 and 40 people throughout the 2 hours of the Action. Our Wall banner (over 6 metres long ) was hoisted for a while. Long enough for photos to be taken by the Oxford Mail/Times photographer. The Public then continued to add signatures and comments to the banner. There was a lot of interest, with people queuing up to use the available markers, and some very pertinent comments, showing quite good awareness of the situation in Palestine.
There was a lot of interest in the display of photos and facts about the Wall, many of which were taken during visits of some of our members to Palestine. The stall was also incredibly busy with close to 100 new signatures on our Wall petition for Parliament being collected and many donations for our work.
At 3pm to shouts of "The Wall must fall" it did (to the best of it's ability). A very good afternoon raising people's awareness about Palestine in general and the Wall in particular – and the rain held off!.
