New Presentation on Nature Conservation

Hunts and hunting people make up the UK's largest community conservation organisation. By attacking them the Government is flouting its obligations, defined in international conventions, to engage with local communities in achieving biodiversity objectives.
70% of hunts are involved in conservation activities and hunts manage 23,000ha of mostly broadleaved woodland in the UK. In a typical year some 30,000m of hedgerows are planted and 18,000m of hedgerows are laid because of hunting.
The hunting community is the largest participatory conservation organisation in the UK motivated by a single activity, with activities as diverse as butterfly conservation and SSSI enhancement being undertaken by different hunts. Forcing through a ban on hunting flies in the face of the Government's commitments to biodiversity and community participation.
The Cuntryside Alliance held a presentation in the House of Lords outlining the Governments international commitments to nature conservation and how hunting contributes to meeting them. We ask you to support us with letters, e-mails and phone calls to your MP.
The ban on Hunting bill is now looking increasingly likely to fail but only if we keep up the pressure.
