Today, around 70 people took part in actions against a meeting entitled "International Rule Making for Global Capital Markets" at Wiston House in Steyning, Brighton (for more background info on the action see: http://www.freewebs.com/shuttheg8 ).
The meeting was organised by a couple of groups connected to the Dissent! Network ( http://www.dissent.org.uk) and was generally regarded as a success. Most people managed to get much closer to the Conference Centre than we had expected, some people managed to get into the actual grounds of the venue and people managed to make enough noise that we feel confident that those meeting in Wiston House were aware of our presence - and of our proximity.
As far as we know, 8 people were arrested, 2 of whom have already been released, 6 others remain in custody.
A fuller report, photographs and a short film (as well as any article produced in the mainstream press) will be posted here in the next few days - watch this space!
Free the prisoners!
