A space will be taken and squatted as an expression of confrontation,
and as an open venue for the exchange of ideas, criticism and
experiences with the goal of broadening a radical analysis of the
repressive system, but also the whole society that produces it.
In an attempt to launch discussion , criticism and action against
surveilance, new technologies of control, prisons and the panoptikon
society, we're proposing a series of talks and discussions on and
around these issues.
Thursday, 21st October - 6pm: Food. 7pm: Showing of Terry Gilligam's 'Brazil', 9.30pm: Introduction ot Maelstrom and general discussion of the issues it hopes to address.
Friday, 22nd October - 6pm: Food, 7pm: Intro and update on new laws affecting activists and insurgents from the 'Legal Beagles' team. Followed by a discussion on the implications of these laws and possibilites...
Saturday, 23rd October - 2pm: Discussion on repression and trauma, 4pm: Leave No trace, security tips for those taking action. 6pm: Food, 7pm: Showing of 'The Conversation', 9pm: Some sort of fun maybe.
Sunday, OCtober 24th - 2pm: CCTV: what it is, how it worksm and when it doesn't, followed by a CCTV mapping expedition around Leeds City Centre. 5pm: Talk on ID Cards, 6pm: Food, 7pm: Watching mr, Watching you - Discussion on Surveilance and Popular Culture.
