PRELIMINARY RESULTS: CHAVEZ WINS WITH 58.25 PER CENT
The head of state obtained 4,991,483 votes, equivalent to 58.25 per cent of votes. The "Yes" option [opposed to Chavez] obtained 3,576,557 votes (41.74 per cent of the votes).

In a simultaneous radio and television transmission, the head of the CNE, Francisco Carrasquero, announced the preliminary results of the presidential referendum, with 94.49 per cent of the votes transmitted by the CNE, which yield the following result:

The "No" option: 4,991,483 votos (58.25 per cent)

The "Yes" option: 3,576,557 votos (41.74 per cent)

En transmisión consjunta de radio y televiisión, el rector principal del CNE, Francisco Carrasquero, anunció los resultados preliminares del referendo presindencial, dadas con el 94,49 por ciento de las actas automatizadas transmitidas al CNE, las cuales arrojan el siguiente resultado:


La opción del "No": 4.991.483 votos (58,25 por ciento)

La opción del "Sí": 3.576.557 votos (41,74 por ciento)
