The new chief officer in charge of counter-terrorism policy has vowed to deal a blow to 'cowardly' animal rights extremists. Ken Jones, ACPO lead on terrorism, started his three-year term by hitting out at 'cowardly extremists who commit serious criminal acts by terrorising families in their homes and workplaces'.
Jones went on to say that animal rights extremists will be treated in the same way as other threats to society who use terrorism as a weapon. "As far as I am concerned the gloves are off for these people, they can expect raids on their homes and workplaces, public identification and the full force of the law. Lengthy custodial sentances will be called for"
Jones also confirmed what had been suspected for some time - MI5 and Special Branch has infiltrated several extreme animal rights organisations and this had led to the recent run of arrests.
