TO PUBLIC OPINION
TO CIVIL SOCIETY, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL
We denounce the events that occurred on 6th July 2004, in the community of Chaban, in the municipality of Chilon. Micaela Saragos Guillén, a 12 year old zapatista girl, was kidnapped and then raped by 3 men.
That day at 2pm the girl's mother, Laureana Guillén Silvano, was at home with Micaela, four sisters and two sisters-in-law - there were only women present - when a large group of men arrived, armed with machetes and sticks, and started to beat the women. Three of the men dragged the girl from her home. This was seen by the rest of the family.
They carried off the girl, grabbing her by the hair and menacing her with a pistol. They took her along a path for approximately an hour, then arriving at a road. Later the girl was raped on the hillside by the 3 men, as they threatened her with the pistol, detaining her there for around 30 minutes.
The 3 individuals were recognised by the girl and by the women in the house: their names are : Gaspar Silvano Gómez and Vicente López Silvano of the community of Chabán, in the municipality of Chilon; the other man's name is not known but he was recognised and is known to live in the community of Yaxteel, in the municipality of Chilon.
On 10th July the girl received medical attention in the Guadalupana Clinic in Oventic, from the Doctor on duty, and attached to this report is the medical certificate, as evidence of the truth of this denunciation.
WE DEMAND JUSTICE AND REPARATION FOR THE INJURY SUFFERED!
Attentively
