RussianBabySealCull-Why no recent figures?
Baby Seal | 16.07.2004 16:10 | World
Thousands of 9 day old baby seals are annually culled on the White Sea,Russia every
March/April (averaging 30000 p.y.).
Despite a recent meeting with the Russian Ambassador in London,to highlight the seals
plight and a promise to investigate the matter by the ambassador there has,as yet, been
no sign of an answer to the request to publish the numbers of seals culled from 2002 to
2004.
Do the authorities in Russia have something to hide perhaps ? - have the numbers taken
been increased over the last 3 years ?
Please write letters/ send emails to the Russian Embassy to enquire about the latest
figures and to protest about the continuation of the cull. Please ask for a prompt
reply.
His Excellency Grigory B. Karasin.
Ambassador of the Russian Federation,
13 Kensington Palace Gardens,
London.W8 4QX.
