What is the alternative?

I have read with interest the various articles here that both praise and condemn the (New) Labour government (though the majority here seem to naturally condemn). So my question arises from that.
Alright, some may say "New" Labour doesn't offer it, but what is the current alternative? The Lib Dems are as far right, if not more so, than the Tories on most issues and are opportunistic anyway.
The Tories - well, it goes without saying!
Respect may make some impact but not enough to form a govt or to even influence power that much (IMO).
The Greens may be the most realistic but will be forever tainted by their environmentalist tag (which the majority of UK people simply don't identify with). More often than not I hear people describing the Greens as "Lib Dem lite" or "Labour lite".
So who is an alternative? Is there one? Does this sound defeatist? Am I a realist or have I been "brainwashed"?!!
Interested to know!
