Euro Hustings in Oxford: Candidates talk about Poverty and Europe

Roger Jenking, who has stood as an independent 'Liberal' in local Oxford elections, will chair the Euro-hustings. Representatives of Labour and the Conservatives are also expected to attend.
"The European Union in theory could be a huge force for good for poor countries. In practice it dumps cheap sugar, bans clothing imports and is forcing poor nations to privatise their water industries", says Roger Jenking.
"Oxford people have always been very generous and committed to helping poor people overseas. This is a chance to quiz the Euro candidates about what they would do to making the European Union more Third World friendly."
