definetely not spam, a great night and two excellent causes


Insansa (meaning ‘happiness’ in the Zambian language Bemba) will take
you on an aural and visual adventure. From Africa, where Zambian
dancers will dazzle you with traditional dances from Zambia, SOSA- XA will
soothe your soul with gorgeous Southern African harmonies and the Mundi
Drummers will get you dancing to rhythms from across Africa. On to
Latin America, where Capoeira dancers combine elements of dance, play and
ritualistic fighting, and the Sheffield Samba Band will transport you
to Rio’s Carnival. And back to Europe, where Minnie Moosika will whisk you
away with frenetic foot stamping music for dance, from Eastern European
and Klezmer traditions, and Body of Sound’s beautiful female vocals
will make you smile.

Delicious Zambian food will be available, alongside more conventional
snacks, and a licensed bar will provide all manner of liquid
refreshments. A free CD will be given to the first 50 people to come
along, featuring sounds of Africa, so come early!

Insansa aims to build on international links between Sheffield, and
Zambia and Nicaragua, and is being jointly organised by the Zambia
Education Society (www.zambialinks.ik.com)
and the Sheffield Esteli Student Partnership

All proceeds from the night will go directly to educational projects in
Zambia and Nicaragua. In Zambia, we will be supporting Praise Academy
School in the remote are of Nchelenge in buying a computer to
facilitate links with schools in Sheffield, and building a new school building. In
Nicaragua, we are contributing to the building of a dormitory for
students of Esteli University, to improve access to higher education
amongst people living in rural areas.
