Dear Kai Andersen
Re-location of the People's Centre
Thank you for your letter regarding the above. I not that this is also the same that appeared on the indymedia website dated 4.2.2004 in which you appear not to expect a reply - you will appreciate, I hope, the difficult situation we find ourselves in and I hope that you take the time to read this FULL explanation.
Incidently, your letter on the website, makes certain comments against Communities Against Poverty, whose officers are members of the People's Centre management committee. It would be improper for me to comment on your views about CAP so I have passed your comment on. However, I do think it is important you are corrected on the following - Communities Against Poverty have ong since moved out of the city's business district (your description), and now operate out of the BNENC Neighbourhood Office, Breakfield Road North.
Now, to the matter of the People's Centre, I am writing this letter on behalf of the President of the People's Centre and the Council of Management to set the record straight over our proposed re-location. In order to do this I intend to deal with 5 matter:
1. The current situation
* Funding
* Building
2. The financial situation
3. The Save the Picket Campaign
4. Future Prospects - relocation not closure
5. Conclusion
I won't reproduce the entire 10 pages of the letter including the report. But I like the final line "With apologies to Karl Marx, the object of the Centre is to change the world, not maintain it in its current form."
I'll add my comment in an additional posting.
Kai Andersen
