Don't give up hope :)

frustrated, by the events of the last couple of days. I know I
was. But the more I think about it, the more I see that we
always seem to bounce back - as a movement, and (usually) as
individuals too.
I publish this mainly as an outlet for my own personal thoughts,
but also thinking it will perhaps lift a few spirits and inspire
a few smiles :)
----------------------------------------
I raged, I cried, and let it all out. Slowly, I started to smile
and laugh again, learn a little lesson and move on. And go on to
fight/dance another day.
I did allow myself to almost hope that things might be different
this time, that those slime-creatures in Parliament might at
least *begin* to do the right thing. But, [sigh], my instinct
was sadly proved right.
I know that I will never entirely give up hope, because
increasingly, my hope isn't in the hands of politicians. It isn't
in the party manifestos (even the radical ones), the pages of
newspapers, or the anti-knowledge of TV news. It isn't in the
eloquent speeches of the charismatic or the powers of superheroes.
My hope is in the people who gather and act together - in the new
friends I've met, in the old friends I love. In their compassion,
bravery, determination and beauty. In the unique truth each of them
brings with them.
My inspiration is in songs and stories of success and courage, in
music, and in my memories. Memories that to me demonstrate, without
a doubt, that human beings can work and live together freely as
equals.
My hope is in every human heart and its capacity for love.
And that can never be destroyed.
