Teenager died after a kick in the face, court told. The accused is one Mohsin Raza.
A young white teenager was brutally assaulted and then killed in an unprovoked attack by a mob after he fled a group of Asian men during a night out, a murder trial jury in Oldham heard yesterday.
Gavin Hopley (19) suffered fatal injuries after he was repeatedly kicked in the face.
Prior to the murder, the young white lad was said to have been “panicking and frightened” as he ran from a group of Asian men chasing him in the Glodwick area, Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, heard.
He was killed when Mohsin Raza held a signpost for support and used his right foot to kick him without warning to the left side of his face.
Gavin died six days later from bleeding around the brain.
Moshin Raza aged 20 of Brewerton Road, Oldham, denies murdering Gavin.
Gavin, who lived and was born in Rochdale, had been with friends at the Scruples nightclub in Oldham when, at approx 2am on February 9 2002 , he and two other men left to look for a taxi to get home.
As they were unfamiliar with the area around the nightclub the lads then wandered around a number of streets looking for a cab and ended up in the area around Greengate Street, Harmony Street and Landseer Street in Glodwick. These are predominantly Asian areas.
The lads approached a Honda Civic car parked on Harmony Street in which four Asian males were sitting — Ruhel Miah, Nizam Uddin, Habib Rahman and Foulmiah Mohammed. After a verbal dispute the Asian males gave chase to the three white youths.
Hunted and attacked
Gavin found himself separated from his pals and his attackers soon caught up with him. He was pushed to the ground. His head fell backwards on to the floor, with the back of his head hitting the ground first and then his body and legs. Then the kick to the head occurred.
Mr Hussain , the prosecutor for the Crown , told the jury that the group of Asians who had chased the lads had subsequently pleaded guilty to an offence of public disorder and had been dealt with by the court but added: “You must not, in any way, use this against the defendant.”
Raza was first arrested in February, 2002, on suspicion of murdering Gavin.
He was interviewed by the police and exercised his right to silence and the charge was subsequently withdrawn by the Crown.
In March this year, after two people made statements implicating the defendant in the murder of Gavin , he was re-arrested by the police and interviewed.
In a prepared statement handed to police with his solicitor present he said that he had been working at the Royal Balti Takeaway in Dukinfield that night before going home and had not left the property until the next day.
The case continues.

Though most people in Britain would not be aware that this case was even happening.
That's because the BBC, and the other anti-white Liberal Fascists that run the media in this country have decided to impose a ban on reporting the case. It seems that when a murder involves whites it isn't even news anymore.
That these same media groups forced the public to endure years of absurd and ridiculous reporting on the Stephen Lawrence case in their quest to create a secular 'martyr' for Multi-Culturalism, just shows how corrupt and bigoted the media is in this country. It seems that the BBC regards the life of young whites as trivial and unimportant.
Nor is their ever any mention of the THREE MILLION aborted babies in Britain since the Abortion Act of 1967 was brought in, other than to perpetually defend the rights of career obsessed females to treat the aborting of unborn babies as just another consumer choice for the modern woman. The BBC, and most of the rest of the British Media, are complicit in all the crimes of the British State against its own people. They preach about impartiality and then hide the truth from the people. This is political reporting at its most blatant.

Here are some facts about the BBC they don't like you to know - whilst the smug self satisfied media reporters in the BBC enjoy regular jaunts to sunny climes for conferences on ' racial diversity issues in contemporary childrens' tv shows ' the British people pay with their liberty for the BBC's luxuries.
Each year approximately 200,000 people are prosecuted for non-payment of the TV Licence.
68% of these prosecutions are against women. This is because when the TV Licence inspectors call during the day it's usually the woman who's at home taking care of the children.
Out of the total of 200,000 prosecutions 98% result in a fine.
Because TV Licence evasion is a strict liability offence these cases have to be heard in a magistrates court, and the court has no compulsion to allow fines to be paid by installments.
There is no compulsion on Magistrates to means test people who appear in court.
If you do not pay the fine a warrant will be issued for your arrest.
Over the years thousands of women have been imprisoned in the United Kingdom because they were not able to pay fines imposed upon them for not having a TV Licence. Almost all of these women were in receipt of benefits and around half of them had dependent children.
In 1994 there were 243 women and 487 men sent to prison for non-payment of their TV license.
The majority of the men were living below the poverty line on benefits, whilst the majority of the women were single mothers living on benefits. Their children were taken into care once the court sent their mothers to prison.
The BBC and the rest of the British media are dinosaurs. They are the remnants of an increasingly discredited system that will be consigned to the dustbin of history once we get into power. The media is designed and run by the politically correct Establishment to support the Establishment and deny the electorate an informed choice about their right to choose who rules them.
The BNP is the fiery comet of radical change that will stop these State lie machines once and for all.
On the the first morning we take power, the senior managers of the BBC will be called to account and, where necessary, sacked. The day after, we will enact a Bill to ensure the media reflects the will and interest of the British people. We will ensure by statute the radical requirement upon the media to quite simply "TELL THE TRUTH". What could be fairer and more obvious than that?
