Stop the violation of civil rights in the name of «war on terrorism»
- call for participation -
The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) will hold its summit on the 1st and 2nd of December in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Representatives from 55 nations in Europe, Central Asia, and North America will be participating, including the US secretary of foreign affairs, Colin Powell.
The main agenda during this summit is the «War on Terrorism» as the threat to stability and security in the 21st century. The war in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the present occupation of Iraq are all examples of US’s «War on Terrorism». We reject America's war campaign and we speak out against the support that other countries, are giving including the Netherlands.
«War on Terrorism» is also the excuse being used to impinge on the privacy and civil rights of citizens in the West, ranging from imprisonment without trail in Guantánamo Bay, rejecting the right to demonstrate to stigmatization of Muslim communities.
Therefore, we are calling for a mass demonstration and manifestation on the 30th of November. To emphasize the need for a peaceful world and a peaceful Europe. To claim the right to uphold our democratic and civil rights. We call on those who are advocates of the above issues to come and join us.
The platform Enmasse has organized a demonstration on Sunday 30th of November in Maastricht starting at 13.30h.
We will gather at the «Koningsplein», and go on foot to «de Griend».
We are still looking for people who can help us with printing & distribution of flyers & posters, security, mon€y, bands, etc.
For clarity reasons, we would like to state that Enmasse agitates against the «war on terrorism» as it is currently been carried out. We make no statement whatsoever on the OSCE itself, since some of our people are in favour and some are against the OSCE-organization.
