SOLIDARITY WITH THE BOLIVIAN REVOLUTION
BP & REPSOL out of Bolivia!
Wednesday 22 October 12noon onwards
BP Headquarters,1 St James Square, London SW1
We took part in a picket of BP Offices in Finsbury
Park on Friday 17th. More than 80 people were killed
in Bolivia by the forces of the State, intent on
making their country safe for British Petroleum,
British Gas, and Repsol (Spanish oil company), who
were due to be granted Bolivian natural gas at a
fraction of its cost. Bolivians (workers, peasants,
indigenous Aymara and Quechua people, etc) had been
protesting and were savagely repressed.
The picket was small but spirited; lets make the next
one bigger.
Meanwhile, the Bolivian President had to
resign. His former vice-president has taken over, but
the General Strike called by the C.O.B. (Bolivian
Trade Union Confederation) continues. And USA has said
they will send in American troops "to protect the
American Embassy". Repsol, by the way, is the same
company which has benefited from the privatisation of
the Argentine oil industry.
