The latest Shortwave Report (October 17) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.1MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:39) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better- http://www.freakradio.org Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PDST)
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.radiolavalamp.org
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, the Voice of Russia, China Radio International, Radio Deutsche Welle, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- The highest religious authority in Saudi Arabia called Tuesday’s demonstrations in Ryadh as the behavior of non-Muslims. Former Peruvian President Fujimori, hiding in Japan, has announced he will run for President of Peru in 2006. World wide there has been severe criticism of the US for holding the detainees at Guantanemo Bay- now criticism within the US is also growing. The deadly bomb attack on a US Diplomatic convoy in the Gaza Strip has been denied by the usual suspects in Palestine, and claimed by no one- the attack remains a mystery.
From Russia- The Afghan President has banned Political parties with military wings. Russian soldiers have confiscated a portion of the bumper crop of heroin coming out of Afghanistan. Russia wants a broader, more inclusive UN Security Council.
From China- China, like Russia, wants to see changes in the UN Security Council. The bombing in Bagdhad in front of the Turkish Embassy was a response to the Turkish governments decision to send troops to Iraq. The launch and return of the Chinese manned space mission was the main topic in Chinese media this week.
From Germany- Next, a European press review from Monday on Germany’s RDW. The sound is noisy, but the editorials about the war in Iraq are significant.
From Cuba- Israeli soldiers have been accused of war crimes in last weeks deadly invasion of a refugee camp in the Southern Gaza Strip. Then 2 reports on the crisis in Bolivia, the first from Monday, the second from Wednesday.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
