The latest Shortwave Report (July 4) is up at the website http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (29:06) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday evening at 7pm on KZYX/Z Philo CA, you might be able to stream via http://www.kzyx.org
There are several other streams that work better- http://www.freakradio.org Freak Radio Santa Cruz (96.3fm) now streams this program on Friday at 9:30am (PDST)
Also check out LavaLamp Radio (Japan)- http://www.radiolavalamp.org
streaming the SWR, check out the schedule.
And the Partytown streams are great and informative- http://www.partytown.com/radio
This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, China Radio International, the Voice of Russia, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands-Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi spewed embarrassing remarks before the EU parliament, as Italy began a 6 month presidency of the EU. Honduras is planning to outlaw youth gangs, alarming Human Rights groups. The Columbian government is going to take a “tough line” with all rebel groups and drug traffickers. The US has stopped military aid to 35 countries who refused to protect US citizens from the International Criminal Court- Columbia, which is the 3rd largest recipient of US military aid, is one of the countries now having funds cut. The Indonesian military now claims control of the Ache province, after a war the media has not been allowed to witness. The Indonesian military says it can do to its own country what the US has done to Iraq.
From China- N Korea is threatening to withdraw from a 1953 Armistice agreement if sanctions are brought against it, and S Korea says the US report of discovering new nuclear facilities in the north are untrue and groundless. Then a brief analysis of the US war on Iraq, questioning the popularity among US citizens, the ongoing resistance of the Iraqi people, and the Iraqi witnesses who say the US did bomb the mosque on Monday, which the US military denies.
From Russia- A commentary about the recent polls in the US concerning US citizens attitudes about the war on Iraq. The war’s popularity in the US is diminishing, and it never was popular in Iraq.
From Cuba- The BBC aired a documentary about Israel’s nuclear and chemical weapons last week, (though not aired in the US), and Israel called it “Nazi propaganda.” As Iran moves to make its nuclear program public under pressure from the US, Iranian leaders want Israel to make its nuclear weapons program public. Officials in Afghanistan warned that they are not receiving adequate support to maintain order outside of Kabul, or to prepare for next years elections.
All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!
