In an interview for Echo of Moscow (the last main independant radio station)Arkady Volsky, a governor of "Media Sociun" group (the main shareholder in TVS) said"MosTelecom would never turn off TVS of its own accord. It , as an organisation simply does not have the authority to do that to a federal TV station." He went on to say that the leadership of "Media Socium" took a letter protesting the closing of this TV station to the Moscow City Authorities on Thursday. The letter contained a request to delay proceedings unitl certain issues had been resolved. Volsky expected a positive response from Mr Luzhkov, Mayor of Moscow. The planned closing of TVS on 1st June had been attributed to the lack of any agreement between "Media Socium" and "MosTelecom". As A Mahonov said in an interview broadcast on Echo of Moscow radio station, the decision to close TVS was taken expressly by MosTelecom, and not the Moscow Authorities. From today, MosTelecom cable networks are no longer being made available to TVS. Mahonov mentioned that one reason behind this was the TVS shareholders refusal to pay for MosTelecom services. He added, that MosTelecom had proposed various alternate payment schemes of debt restructuring, but that TVS shareholders showed no willingness to consider these options.
