Information and arrangements for participating the Counter-Summit and the manifestations in Thessaloniki, during the EU leaders' Summit, on June 20th-22nd


The main manifestations will take place on June 20-21. Each day will be dedicated on specific issues that will be expressed both in the counter-conferences, and the demonstrations themselves. Every day will have a specific programme of discussions, cultural events and demonstrations.
* Programme

Day1: June 20th Dedicated to imigrants and democratic rights.

-Demonstration to the venue of the EU summit in Chalkidiki (approx. 100 km from Thessaloniki, at the seaside) (Departure & Return to the city of Thessaloniki by buses )

Day 2: June 21st Day against militarism, NATO, Euroarmy and war

- Morning: Counter-Summits and cultural events in various sites of the city
- Afternoon: Big international demonstration and march in protest to the European Union policies in the city of Thessaloniki
- Evening: Anti-EU concert with the participation of Greek and International artist groups

Day 3: June 22nd Day of struggle for Labour and Social Rights

- Counter-Summits and cultural events in various sites of the city

* Accommodation info
All components of "Action - Thessaloniki 2003" will make arrangements for the accommodation of participants in the manifestations of Thessaloniki (eg Unions through PAME etc), but there is a central planning as well.
Private accommodation There is possibility to arrange private accommodation in homes for a limited number of persons, given that there is an early request, for 20-22 of June.

Youth Camping There will be a youth camping organized by KNE from 15-22 of June in the outskirts of Thessaloniki, so that young people may combine low budget staying in Greece with participation in the manifestations .

Public Spaces Public Spaces for free accommodation with sleeping bags in the City and outskirts of Thessaloniki will be also available. Contact:  info@action-salonika2003.org

Hotels If you intend to book hotel rooms at reasonable prices, it is better to hurry up because Thessaloniki has a rather limited hotel capacity. For information about availability, prices and offers Contact:  info@action-salonika2003.org

* Transportation
If you want to travel to Thessaloniki coming from another point of Greece, you may contact the local mobilization committees that will arrange transportation to Thessaloniki from all parts of Greece.

Ask  info@action-Salonika2003.org and they will provide you a responsible contact person in any city or town in Greece.

* Visa arrangements
In case you need a visa or invitation letter to pass the Greek borders you have to make all necessary arrangements at least 3 weeks before the event. In case you need a personal invitation for issuing of visa, address to  info@action-salonika2003.org or to any of its components

* Legal and Shenghen questions

For cases of emergency "Action-Thessaloniki 2003" have available a team of lawyers that will address legal and Shenghen questions.
