Israel to get Iraqs oil

Israel is considering the possibility of re-opening the Mosul-Haifa oil pipeline after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein’s regime, Ha'aretz reports. This pipeline was mothballed back in 1948.
The Israeli Infrastructure Ministry has already sent a request to assess the condition of the pipeline. According to the Ministry, the resumption of oil transportation directly from Iraq will allow Israel to cut expenses on buying Russian oil. As for the United States, it is not expected to object to the project, because the oil pipeline will transport oil supplies directly to the Mediterranean Sea.
Israel tried to re-mothball the oil pipeline in the 1980s, but Syria blocked the stretch of the pipeline running across its territory.
