towers, meeting members of Kent CND, where police were surprised as the demonstrators marched straight on to the road, continuing to a busy roundabout on the ring road where demonstrators occupied the road for around
20 minutes, using their 'weapon of mass democracy'; stopping a large amount of traffic leaving the city. Following this, the march continued to the cathedral where a noisy protest was held outside the entrance. Police brutality and scuffles were in evidence, with police cameras being used and reports of one woman being stuck at by a police officer. The demonstration was very noisy, passionate and powerful, and protestors vowed that this
'would only be the start' of a strong campaign of mass protest and civil
disobedience.
