The students later moved to the side of the main road where they encouraged motorists to 'beep for peace'.

Another lunchtime protest outside Northgate House (council offices) in Halifax attracted around 60 demonstrators.
In the evening around 200 people assembled at Halifax bus station for the main demonstration of the day, a march through the town centre and blockade of an Esso filling station on Skircoat Road. We were surprised to find that our work had been done for us, as the Esso station had already been shut in our honour.
After spending a short while outside Esso station the group agreed to confuse the accompanying police and head across town to another Esso petrol station on Queens Road, in a largely Asian area, blocking traffic the main road and picking up a large number of local teenagers on the way. The second target had also been shut down in advance of our arriving.
A candle-lit peace vigil was also held in Hebden Bridge attended by Calder Valley Voices choir.
