Sleazebag Short - Smallbrook's Shame :(
On Monday, 10 March, the Independent newspaper reported that Clare Short, the International Development Secretary, "would resign from the Cabinet if Tony Blair went to war on Iraq without a new UN mandate. When asked on BBC Radio 4's Westminster Hour if she would quit if there was no new UN resolution, she replied: 'Absolutely, there's no question about that.'
On Thursday, 13 March, John Pilger, the veteran commentator, warned us that Short is a deeply untrustworthy character. He wrote "[N]o one should be distracted by the latest opportunistic antics of Clare Short, whose routine hints of "rebellion", followed by her predictable inaction, have helped to give Blair the time he wants to subvert the UN."
There can be no more vile a politician than one who issues fake promises.
Essentially, Short is scum who is in it solely for the CA$H.
Her job title "International Development Secretary" (snigger) is one of the most absurd misnomers of our times. Short has spent the last two years with her snout *firmly* in the trough. She travels far-and-wide, at our expense, on the pretence of "saving lives", "alleviating poverty" etcetera, when in fact, truth be known, she's a despicable corporate whore - junketing with corrupt and despotic Third World leaders and assisting British industry in the flogging of their puerile products to countries that can't even manage to find, or bother to find, safe water for the people to drink.
I don't expect Short has any more respect for her constituents either. The last time I heard, Short was under criminal investigation for alleged electoral fraud. If I remember correctly, the Liberal Democrat Leader on Birmingham City Council was collecting the evidence on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service.
Urgent message to Short's Constituency Labour Party: Ditch That Ghastly Witch!
Short's office can be reached on: Tel: 020 7219 4264 Fax: 020 7219 2586
P.S. The papers today are reporting that as a reward for her deceit, the Bliar has promised Short a major role in the awarding of the contracts to "rebuild" Iraq once it has been bombed to bits. "Awarding of Contracts" is one of those revolting parliamentary euphemisms for, erm, ... [have a guess!]
