Personally, i have found it perverse that lots of people in the anti-war movement are calling for action and demonstrations the day or day after the bombing of Iraq begins. How utterly ineffective. If a million people marching beforehand is not enough pressure to prevent the government from pushing ahead with its war plans, than no amount of actions and protests will stop them once they start. And besides, many Iraqi's will already be dead. For them any post-bombing action is TOO LATE.

There are however ways a relatively small number can add to the pressure, perhaps decisively. To go to war a country must have a reasonably functioning economy. Paralyse the economy and you are doing something that may actually prevent war.

The overcrowded highways of the UK are where the economy is vulnerable. It takes a relatively small number of people to blockade a road, especially with the right equipment - armlocks, cement filled barrels for lock-ons, tripods... Pick the right route or intersection at the right time and you can close down a whole city, or significant part of it. Make it clear what you are doing and most people will support you - especially if it means they have a good reason for being late for work, or not going at all.

So think about it. If you really care about what is about to take place, and you are not interested in simply making gestures and protests that those in power feel able to ignore, then take some action that will force them to take notice. And do it NOW, or real soon, BEFORE the murdering bastards go and get away with it yet again, AND KEEP ON DOING IT until the threat of war is well and truly gone.
