Blair to meet the Pope
Tony Blair is to have a private audience with Pope John Paul II on Saturday.
It will take place after a UK-Italy summit when he will talk with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Mr Blair's official spokesman has refused to give details about the audience.
He said: "We do not comment on the Prime Minister's travel arrangements and all the Prime Minister's engagements this weekend are private."
Mr Blair's audience will come more than a week after Iraq's deputy prime minister Tariq Aziz met the Pope. Mr Aziz is one of the few Christian members of the Iraq's ruling elite.
The Prime Minister regularly worships at Roman Catholic churches even though he is an Anglican. This is because his wife is a Roman Catholic.
Although neither the Vatican nor Downing Street are publicly confirming the audience tonight.
The Pope has regularly called for war to be consigned to the history books and urged a peaceful resolution to the current crisis. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/030218/4/dtj56.html
Btw, the priest in Cherie's church have told Blair in the past to go to his own church as he is not a Catholic. Still, it looks good for photocalls before the election to walk hand-in-hand to church yank style... And it is nice to be able to flaunt Christian creds!!! Oh what a fraud!!!!! (Heaven forbids, the sly chap might still bore the Pope to sleep with his incessant bouts of moral diarrhoea!!!!!!!!)
