On saturday during the stop the war demo (mid afternoon) a small group of demonstrators accompanied by a drumming band attempted to march around grosvenor squ. The Police violently pushed them back into park lane.
Writer Tariq Ali who witnessed the incident said "There was no violent intention. The Police were scared (yeah right) and pushed people back roughly. There was no need to do that."
The Police presence around the embassy remained until very late that night.
