African Aids spread by dirty needles

In a report in the International Journal of STD and AIDS, researchers have found a high infection rate in adults with no possible exposure to HIV and in children with HIV-negative mothers. There is also a high rate of infection in women during childbirth and the period surrounding it, suggesting that non-sterile medical procedures are contributing to the continent’s epidemic.
Some studies are now estimating that 40% of HIV infections in African adults are linked to injections, while previously, it was estimated that 90% of infections were transmitted through sexual activity.
