Border controls kick inn: Swedish activist (18) arrested and deported | 9-10 others arrested and released
At 2300 on Saturday, police singled out and arrested a recently arrived Swedish protestor from amongst a group of 6. He was deported during Sunday on police claims his presence was a "securtiy threat". Today, 9 other activists were also arrested but later released. All ten had been amongst the hundreds taken into custody, but not convicted of any crime, during the Gothenburg protests last year.
South meets North on WB criticism during counter-conference
Former Zambian president Kenneth Kaunda and Philippino organiser Lidy Nacpil were amongst the speakers during the "Open Forum" counter-conference. Criticism of WB policy, and even WB existence, was strong and factual coming from the people who had experienced it first-hand. English summary | photos

ABCDE participants welcome protests, protesters diverge on dialogue

The day before the big one, Attac & RtS debate continues
Monday J24 will see the major Oslo2002 event - the broad demonstration against the World Bank, immediately followed by a Reclaim the Streets party independent of Oslo2002. Demo organiser Attac has recommended its members not to participate in the RtS party, explained and moderated their stance and met with criticism from members of the 2001 parents network.
