During the day there will be protests outside employment agencies that profit from casual labour.

The evening will see a protest outside the BUILDING INDUSTRY'S ANNUAL AWARD GALA at a plush five star hotel in Park Lane. Protesters will be there to remind the companies up for awards, including some with convictions for killing their employees, that people are sick of their profits-before-anything-else attitude.

JOIN THE PROTESTS!

This is a day when you can show your disgust at the massive rise of the casual labour economy that means no holidays, no sick pay, no unions and no safety for millions of workers in this country, while employment agencies make a killing.

Protests organised so far include -

In LONDON there will be a demonstration at 6pm outside the building industry’s annual awards ceremony at the five star Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane (just down from Marble Arch tube).

In PUTNEY There will be a protest at 9am outside Plan Personnel in Putney High Street (opposite the cinema).

In BRIGHTON people will be meeting at 12 noon outside the offices of Personnel Selection in West Street. This is the office that sent Simon to his death four years ago. Simon's family and Mark Thomas will be attending this event.

In BIRMINGHAM there will be a vigil from 4pm to 6pm in Victoria Square. This will be followed by relatives laying a wreath at the Workers Memorial Column in Cathedral Gardens, Colmore Row.

In MANCHESTER there will be a protest at 3pm at Adecco in Fountain Street.

In LEICESTER there will be a stall outside Kellys and Manpower on Market Street from 12 noon.

In SHEFFIELD there will be picket of Adecco Employment Agency at 16 Commercial Street at 8.30am. Meet outside the Cathedral at 8.20am (near the tramstop).

In OXFORD people will be meeting at noon at Carfax Tower.

In LEEDS people will be meeting outside the front of Leeds railway station at noon before visiting some city centre employment agencies. For more information contact  leedsglobaliseresistance@hotmail.com

In LIVERPOOL people will be meeting at 1pm at Lime Street Station to target a well known rip off agency. Bring your own ideas and creativity, bring banners, drums, whistles, placards, deck chairs, footballs, frisbies. This is part of a local carnival against casualisation organised by People not Profit. More details at www.peoplenotprofit.co.uk/carnival.htm

In BRISTOL the Bristol against Casualisation Campaign will be taking part in an action against an employment agency in the Bristol area - more details nearer the time from  bristolacc@hotmail.com

If you are organising a protest we can send packs of leaflets, stickers and balloons for you to hand out. Contact  simonjonesaprilaction@hotmail.com and let us know what you're doing.

We urgently need funds to produce publicity material and run the campaign. Please send cheques made out to 'Simon Jones Memorial Campaign' to Simon Jones Memorial Campaign, PO Box 2,600, Brighton BN2 2DX. Thanks.

SEE YOU ON THE STREETS...
