Huntingdon Life Sciences
Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) mit Testlabors in England und den USA ist
Europas größtes Auftragslabor für Tierversuche und zählt zu den größten
Tierversuchslaboren weltweit. 70.000 Tiere - unter anderem Hunde, Katzen,
Affen, Vögel, Kaninchen, Fische, Mäuse und sogenannte landwirtschaftliche
Nutztiere - werden in den Laboren gehalten, 500 Tiere sterben täglich bei
grausamen Experimenten!
Undercover-Recherchen von britischen TierrechtlerInnen in den Laboren von
HLS in England und den USA haben die Grausamkeit der Tierversuche bei HLS an
die Öffentlichkeit gebracht. Fünfmal wurde gegen das Unternehmen wegen
Tierquälerei erfolgreich Anklage erhoben; juristische Entscheidungen, die
angesichts der in England laschen Tierschutzbestimmungen die Brutalität von
HLS verdeutlichen.
Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC)
Im November 1999 gründete sich die Kampagne gegen HLS: SHAC - Stop
Huntingdon Animal Cruelty - mit dem Ziel, diese Tierversuchsfirma zu
schliessen und das Thema Tierversuche allgemein wieder mehr ins Bewusstsein
zu rücken. Mit vielfältigen und unaufhörlichen Protesten haben die
TierrechtlerInnen es geschafft, den Konzern bis kurz vor dem Bankrott zu
bringen. Neben unzähligen Demos vor den Laboren und den Privathäusern der
VivisektorInnen führten vor allem die Proteste gegen alle UnterstützerInnen,
KundInnen, AktionärInnen sowie die Kreditinstitute dazu, dass diese sich von
HLS zurückzogen und HLS somit bereits mehrmals vor dem finanziellen Ruin
stand.
Wer oder was ist MARSH
Durch die Einschleusung einer SHAC-Aktivistin in die Büroräume von HLS
gelang es der Kampagne, die Gesellschaft, die Huntingdon Life Sciences
versichert, ausfindig zu machen. Die Firma MARSH ist einer der weltweit
größten Versicherungsfirmen mit mehreren Vertretungen in fast allen Staaten
und ist nunmehr seit einigen Wochen das Hauptziel der Kampagne geworden. Da
HLS ohne Versicherung nicht existieren kann, ist es dringend notwendig,
MARSH dazu zu bewegen, sich von HLS zurückzuziehen.
Ruft am Mittwoch, den 24. April, den ganzen Tag über bei MARSH in Wien an,
faxt ihnen, schickt ihnen e-mails und laßt MARSH Wien wissen, was ihr von
ihren tierquälerischen Geschäftsbeziehungen zu HLS hält. Seid kreativ!

Call for International Action against MARSH Europe
On 24th April, the world day of laboratory animals, within the scope of the
campaign against the animal testing company Huntingdon Life Sciences an
international day of phone-, fax- and e-mail action will take place against
MARSH Europe's representative office in Vienna/Austria.
Huntingdon Life Sciences
Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS) is Europe's largest animal testing laboratory
and one of the biggest in the world. HLS operates three testing centers: one
in East Millstone, New Jersey and two in England. Imprisoned in these
notorious laboratories are 70,000 animals including dogs, cats, monkeys,
birds, rabbits, fish, mice and farm animals. All animals used in HLS's
barbaric and worthless experiments are murdered at the end of their
misery-filled lives. 500 animals die at HLS every day!
HLS has been the subject of five undercover investigations exposing the
horrendous animal cruelty and incompetence that goes on inside HLS. HLS
employees have been exposed violently punching and shaking four-month-old
beagle puppies, performing a necropsy (dissection) of a live monkey,
transplanting a frozen pig's heart into a baboon, being drunk and taking
drugs at work, falsifying scientific data, and breaking animal welfare laws.
These investigations have resulted in HLS employees being convicted of
animal cruelty, fined by the USDA and almost shut down by the UK government.

Animal Cruelty - with the mission to close down this contract research
company.
The SHAC campaign has over the last year hit HLS in a multi pronged attack
on the laboratory itself, the workers, shareholders, and clients resulting
in all-time low worker morale, a rock bottom share price, and a loss of
customer confidence. By these tactics it was possible to bring HLS already
on the brink of bankruptcy.
Who or what is MARSH
By the infiltration of an activist, SHAC found out that MARSH gives an
insurance to Huntingdon Life Sciences.
MARSH is one of the main insurance providers for the life-science and
biotechnology-industry with offices throughout the whole world. As HLS
cannot exist without an insurance, MARSH became the main target of the
campaign for the last weeks, to make them cancel their business connnections
with HLS.
Call MARSH in Vienna on Wednesday, 24th April during the whole day, fax and
e-mail them and let them know what you think about their animal torturing
relations to HLS. Be creative!
