Five arrested after disrupting military propaganda event
Five activists from the antimilitarist, nonviolent direct action collective – The d10 Group – were arrested at 7.30pm on Thursday 21 February 2002 at a British Army propaganda event held in Watford, north London/Hertfordshire.

Five arrested after disrupting military propaganda event
Five activists from the antimilitarist, nonviolent direct action collective – The d10 Group – were arrested at 7.30pm on Thursday 21 February 2002 at a British Army propaganda event held in Watford, north London/Hertfordshire.
The event, which included a multimedia presentation on the wonders of the military and was attended by people from local businesses and the community, was disrupted when (we think... this was certainly their intention!) the activists threw paint-filled eggs (not very vegan!), unfurled a banner reading “The army kills, the army lies” and threw confetti with “All soldiers are potential murderers” on one side and “All soldiers are potential deserters” on the other.
All five were taken into custody by Watford (Hertfordshire) police and at the time of posting, have been held for more than 19 hours. You can call Watford police station to enquire about their status/welfare etc if you feel inclined. Their number is 01923 243 947/ 01923 472 000.
We will post an update as soon as there is more news.
At the Watford event a group of London Catholic worker and d10 activists also had a presence outside the venue, with banners and leaflets explaining why they were taking action. A pdf version of the leaflet can be seen at

The d10 Group chose to take action at the Watford event due the town’s close proximity to the British military joint headquarters at Northwood – just four miles away. Northwood has been the venue for previous nonviolent direct action against militarism and war during recent months, notable on 10 December 2001, when eight d10 activists were arrested following a range of activities including entering the base, blockading the main gate, and “improving” a sign.
